In Sweden, a national effort is underway to take the country cashless within two decades. Throughout Africa, it’s perfectly common for merchants to accept money through mobile phones by having buyers transfer a specific amount of money to a specific number associated with the merchant. Yahoo acquires Tumblr in $1.1 billion cash deal, ‘promises not to screw it up’
Yahoo has officially announced that it will acquire Tumblr in a $1.1 billion cash deal expected to close in the second half of the year, and will keep Tumblr’s David Karp on as CEO. “Per the agreement and our promise not to screw it up,” Yahoo says in its press release, “Tumblr will be independently operated as a separate business.” In one of its first acts of business, Yahoo has moved its official blog to yahoo.tumblr.com.

Adobe announces first hardware, the Project Mighty smart stylus and Napoleon ruler
Adobe has just announced its first hardware initiative, a pressure sensitive stylus and an electronic ruler that will tightly integrate with its software applications. The company’s Project Mighty stylus and Napoleon ruler have been showcased connecting to an iPad and iPhone over Bluetooth. The pen works similarly to existing styluses, but when working alongside Napoleon, the two tools can be used to create curved and angled shapes in a way that would be difficult to do with existing third-party styluses.
